Civic sedan DX 97 auto and needs engine options...
No. If you want to swap a different motor in, you'll need to switch to a standard transmission. You're stuck using a D16Y7 in that.
Yes, for that epic 5 horse to the wheels you'll gain from it. You'll also have to wire in VTEC, and modify your harness for the different IACV. It's a complete waste of time - just rebuild the Y7 in the car already.

If you get the Y8 harness as well the only thing to wire in is the secondary 02 but you'll need the EX exhaust system setup style as well.
If you use your harness you'll only need to wire in VTEC and knock as auto y7 and y8 both use 3 wire IACVs. You can reuse the exhaust manifold for this setup if you want. If you don't you'll need to extend the second 02.
96-98 Ex engines will mostly plug and play, 99-00 as well but you'll need to reuse your y7 distributor if you use a 99-00 engine.

Just put another d16y7 in there. If you mate the y8 with the y7 tranny you will get check engine light for torque converter lock up and the it won't shift right from 2nd to 3rd.

This is more than likely to be the route we take if I cannot source a complete Y8 somewhere. The problem I'm having looking for another D16Y7 or Y8 is the ones I've seen for sale have high mileage and no start up guarantees. Another reason I made this thread was because the only sites I know of to source engines are Hmotors, tigerjapanese, and jdmenginedepot in Jersey.
All of which have various motors complete with either an auto or manual tranny.
I guess my next question is: Does anyone have any suggestions on where to obtain a clean and complete motor/tranny that would suit our needs?
