NJ 98 Civic DX Coupe 5 speed 150k miles - Stock
Car is stock except for a few things when I picked up the car.
I picked up a 1998 DX Coupe over the summer for the girlfriend. It was pretty cheap, came with a ridiculous muffler installed, terrible bent rims, a macaroni elbow intake, aftermarket header with a cat welded into the midpipe.
Confirmed the car was in 3 accidents:
1st was shortly after it was rolled off the lot, it apparently was driven into a parked car. The hood, front bumper and right fender are a slightly off color green under certain lights. Also the key doesn't work in the passenger door. The engine bay looks fine, nothing looks bent or like it was twisted / straightened, etc.
2nd the car was rearended, the rear bumper was replaced, same deal with the paint being off slightly under certain light. Nothing look crumpled in the trunk, where the spare goes etc.
3rd I was actually in the car for. Rolling up to the gym looking for a parking spot, some dude backing up blindly bumped the passenger side rear quarter panel. Left a dent, was never fixed.
The interior is kinda dirty, the seats are stained some and steering wheel is worn. The sun visors have holes in them and there's a hole in the rear seat (looks like a burn hole ?)
SO, currently:
Replaced the terrible rims and put it on steelies
Struts were in rough shape, replaced struts and springs with Monroe OE replacements
Replaced all front ball joints and tie rod ends - drives nice and smooth now after alignment
Replaced raspy muffler with OE style
CEL is on and off for the catalytic converter. The car has an aftermarket exhaust manifold with the cat under the car, like the EX model, or Si's, so it's not the manifold / cat combos. The cat on the car is welded into the midpipe though, which sucks.
The driver side window popped off the track. It's been too cold to really look into it, but a lot of people had said spray some lithium grease on the track and reset it.
Rear passenger quarter panel was backed into, has a dent that needs to be pulled.
Runs fine otherwise, even with the CEL. Drives smooth and straight. Trans is good, no grinds or pop outs or anything. Engine pulls and feels healthy enough.
Also, car has a security system already installed. I believe it was only an alarm system as the clutch switch remains intact (generally disabled for manual cars with remote start) and the windows / locks are manual. So I believe this was ONLY for an alarm. There is a horn under the hood and a switch need the hood release latch. The fob that we got with the keys looks like a Viper fob. That's all I know about it, it currently doesn't work. I don't know what it will take to fix it.
Interior I found tow hooks that must have come with the car, they will be included with the car. Also, the old blue lug nuts were starting to look very worn and I was slowly changing them out for new plain black ones. They come with a lock, but I was not using them, all of the remaining lug nuts in the package are going with the car, lock included, as well as the old lock for the blue set.
The car does not come with a tachometer from the factory so previous owner installed a blue LED digital tachometer. It appears to work and is pretty bright.
I currently have it up on Craiglsit, ClubCivic, and eBay to get rid of it.
