- Aem intake
-s2k throttle body
-550cc injectors

i don't see it happening. it won't make any more power than a stock type r, possibly even slower with a gsr transmission.

Uh, why exactly are you replacing a B16B with a frankenmotor? For that matter, why are you replacing a CTR transmission with a GSR? Something about everything you're saying doesn't add up.

Notice the EK9 on this list? You do not have an EK9, that is where the confusion is.

Then you don't have an EK9, you have an EJ6. This, ladies and gentlemen, is why proper chassis codes are important!

Unless you're buying hot stuff off the street, that parts list is probably nearly as much money as a B18C R swap. Plus no tune and very little assembly.

AEM intakes are a waste of money unless you need the CARB stamp.

550cc/min injectors are WAY overkill for your motor.

A 6 puck clutch is also COMPLETE overkill. Get a full-faced, organic, non-cushioned, sprung hub clutch.

The P73 ECU is an OBD2 ECU. You can't chip or tune it. You will need a P72, P28, or other VTEC OBD1 ECU with a stepper harness.

Sell all those parts and get a low mile Honda assembled motor.

13's is what you're after? Why would a stock B18C GSR swap with bolt ons and a B16/ITR trans NOT work to put your hatch in the 13's?

A stock ITR swap puts you in the 13's. Or....roughly 165-170whp with the same torque and gearing as an ITR swap puts you in the 13's.

Lol...EK9.....

It's cool though. He did say he was new to Hondas. NBD.

It's probably like a 2300 or 2400 LB car. Doesn't take much to make it quick. An almost stock GSR swap wifh short gearing will go a long way. Dump those 550cc injectors and that 6 puck clutch.

Normal clutch. Stock injectors. Good tune. The ITR head will make you lose maybe .5 parts of your CR. So your new CR would be 9.5:1. So...maybe get a head gasket.

As far as just a block goes, whats the compression difference on a GSR and the non-vtec blocks?

I wanna assemble an engine out of spare parts too. I was thinking start with a b16 vtec. Then buying a b18 block and having it built with higher compression pistons (forged) plus forged rods and maybe a crank if i need that. and the best cost/benefit can-take-a-beating bearings.

then when i feel like doing another engine swap, get headwork done, like: can-take-a-beating valves/springs, some badass cams, P&P, whatever else fits the whole cost-benefit scheme. finally Put the rebuilt b16 head on the rebuilt b18 block and bolt it in and bring it to a good tuner

The block doesn't decide compression, the rotating assembly does. If you really want stock compression numbers...

13 sec quarter miles turn into wanting to build a bad *** motor out of spare parts?

13 sec quarters can be run with stock "bad ***" motors that can take a beating.

Or are we beyond running 13 sec quarters now?

I meant factory-assembled-short-block. As in, discounting the effect the head has on compression. Basically, how much compression would I lose by using a "fake type r head" on a non-vtec engine block rather than the GSR shortblock

I do not approve of measuring potential engines in 1/4 or 1/8 times. I do not want to do 20+ 'laps' or 'drags' to race for 5 minutes.

I basically want to do the same thing as OP except I'd rather use a cheap good condition LS block than a beat & more expensive C1/5 block. Plus I'm making my own type-r head rather than buying, again, a beat type-r head. I'm buying parts locally, hence the "spare parts" comment. All I want to know "is my LS/vtec gonna suck until I raise the compression on the short block?"
