Best FF SCCA/Autocross car?
So curious as to what everyone thinks is the best car for these events. Im looking into getting into SCCA, but for now, Im going to practice Cone Racing!!
I want to build a FF drive car, but Im curious to find out what everyone thinks the best car should be, or should I just go buy a 96 MR2 Turbo

MR2 turbos' dont make particularly good autoX cars, due to the classification structure. The N/A cars do however... if you were looking for a cheap FWD autoX car, then i'd look for a 1st or 2nd gen CRX Si, or a Civic Si.

Go to some events and learn which cars are most competitive in the classes available. Set your budget and buy the car that you can afford to run competitively with - it does you little good to start out with handicapped with a no-win car.
If you are tricky, you might pick a car that is also a potential Improved Touring frontrunner, so you can build to IT rules, run in Street Prepared at Solo events and have a progression set up for yourself. The downside to this kind of plan might be that, while you can run an IT car in SP, you might not be competitive against "real" SP cars.
Someone who knows autocrossing better than I do, help me out - is an '88-91 CRX Si competitive in its SoloII stock class?

Yes. But almost anything is competitive locally where driver skill is paramount over vehicle ability.

2nd gen CRX Si. Run it in G-Stock for now. Then, slowly add suspension/engine upgrades, being sure to stay within the limits of ITA rules.
Hmmm... A formula ford autocross car?
I don't think I've ever seen one.
What does that have to do with MR2s and CRXs anyway?

FF = front engine, front drive
Formula Fords can be autocrossed in CM, and quite a few A Mod cars are based on Formula Ford chassis.

but, if you want to be really competitive, get a 1G 85 CRX Hf, put a Si engine it in, run CSP (or is it DSP now?) and give everyone hell.
if you're looking to be nationally competitive, DO NOT DO A "hybrid"!! SM2/DM will pwn joo. I run locally and have fun placing top ten consistently, but my class, i can only ever get second.

An SOHC Si swap into an 85 HF will land you right in SM2 or, as the picture suggests, D Modified.

well, i am partial to integras and civic, but Daddio is doing pretty damn well in his turbo neon. some teething problems i'm sure he'll have ironed out for next season. i actually beat him at an event (freak occurance, someone must have drugged him....) but his car will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
D Stock - Integra Type R
G Stock - Neon ACR or Celica GT
H Stock - Mini Cooper
CSP - 1st or 2nd Gen CRX
DSP - Integra GSR - but other cars are faster
FSP - 1st gen rabbit??
STS - Civic Si - but AWD or RWD is gonna win
STX - Integra Type R
SM2 - Honda Insight with entire ITR front subframe Jackson Racing Supercharged. Weight - 1800 lbs HP 255. But AWD or RWD is gonna win

Without a doubt, THE most dominating auto cross FF car (maybe all) would be John Thomas in Tom Lombardo's 1986 Civic hatchie.
BADASS! fast too.

i still think that if you are looking for a very competetive relatively stock auto-x car, you can't go wrong with a type-r....thos cvars are just made to compete in their class.....whetever you decide on....don't let being the "Winner" dictate what you want to drive. Decide on what you want because it is fun to drive.
