Default My new hoopdy 1990 civic Si

Update august 2014
Turbocharged, wing, new struts, new poly bushings, new radio, and more.

Update 5-20-14
Been doing other things and haven't been on the forum much. Got a new windshield installed and ordered/installed brand new factory Takata seatbelts from my work. Since it was a warranty job, I actually got paid an hour of labor to put free seatbelt in my own car :D

UPDATE 3-23-14
new lower ball joints, new wheel bearing, painted wheels, new lug nuts, hood bra, lowered more, clear turn signals (they were missing when i bought the car) fixed a misfire (plugged #3 injector), fixed non-functioning heater selector lever, fixed interior rattles, installed front filler panel (was missing), secured headlights from shaking, repainted wiper arms, replaced wiper blades, cleaned engine bay, rerouted engine wiring harness, secured battery in hatch (was just bungee-corded) took some new pics.

UPDATE: THIS WILL BE MY BUILD THREAD AND I WILL ADD TO THIS POST PERIODICALLY
3-15-14
Interior shot with new steering wheel!

3-14-14
Got the engine running great. Lots of power. Had a bad misfire, turned out to be a clogged injector screen filter on cylinder 3. Then had an issue with the car dying when it came to a stop and not wanting to restart. Turned out to be a misadjusted fuel float reading a half tank when the car was bone dry. Now i can enjoy driving my baby!

Installed a hood bra and clear turn signals to replace the missing ones.

just got back from dallas with this pile. Love these Si's. needs some cleaning up but its solid with no apparent rust. B20b high comp swap with b16 transmission. full Si interior is complete and solid with a couple rips on the driver outer bolster.

B20B is not high comp. But still I know B20s are a blast with B16 transmissions! Nice find!

I just meant 99+ spec B20b

the 96-98 jdm B20b is 8.8:1 and 126hp

The 99-02 jdm B20b is higher compression, 9.6:1 and 147hp

but thank you! I got a decent deal and am going to try to clean it up and get her looking great again. These are some of my favorite cars ever made.

Clean Find! I have that same motor/tranny combo in my EF and it is quite fun for how simple it is. I wish the body of mine was as clean as yours. What are your plans for it?

Thanks! Planning to put some wheels/nardi classic deep steering wheel soon along with a matching custom wood shift **** and daily drive it. I will be slapping a to4e with 6psi on within the year.

Low vs high compression isnt really a big deal, it's like 10hp or so. But all of the B20Bs that ive seen all have the p3f pistons and p75 head. Including my 99. Just my experience

21 horses in a car this light is substantial to me. This swap is not much improvement over stock hp, but I'm sure the midrange power band and the torque are much much better

21 hp is significant when you consider it's more than 15% of the hp that is made.

I wish I could find an Si in good condition. I've been looking for over a year but haven't found one in the kind of shape I want. Stupid teenagers!

How much did you pick it up for? That's pretty nice. Some people have all the luck with finding these things.

Thank goodness. I see people on here pick stuff like this up for $500 or something and it was missing a 15A and wouldn't start. That always upsets me. But that's still not a bad deal if the motor swap was done right.

Yeah it appears to be done well. Wiring is all correct, if not tucked neatly away. The only thing half assed I see that needs fixed is the battery relocation. It's just bunjee corded to the back panel in the hatch area. No hold down or vent.

You are missing a lot of the point.....

The b20z not only makes an 18 hp, but also has more torque, and a completely different power and due to its intake manifold and better cams, the engine drives much differently

Congrats! That's easy. Just get some threaded rod and weld down (if you are okay with doing that) and then do a stock sort of tie strap over the top. Maybe put a tray there for added protection. I would not leave a battery just sitting though. I've seen them tip (in engine bays) and 'weld' themselves to the car. Not a pretty sight.

Yes thanks, i can weld but Im tossing the idea around of using PasswordJDM's relocation kit that sticks the dry cell battery down beside the passenger frame rail. Can't decide. car will be turbo so it needs to be outa the way somehow.

I've seen people just route the charge piping in the stock location and get away with it. I wouldn't move it from it's current position. The battery in the back is generally a decent idea.

Also, side note. I'd never buy anything from PasswordJDM. They are wicked expensive for whatever reason.

helpful hint - those better cams are no more than b18b cams, which i think is the same exhaust cam throughout. so to help the b20b from falling on its *** at 5500 rpm, swap in a usdm b18b intake cam. best 20 dollar mod you will do to the motor

your si is clean im highly jealous. good luck with it!
