How to take off bottom timing belt cover?
Changing the timing belt on my friends lude 1992 Si and we got the alternator and ps pump off. do we need to take off the crankshaft pulley to do the timing belt?
do a search man, there's a special tool that will fit inside the crank pulley.
some people use an impact driver to spin it off, some people use the special tool on a breaker bar and then a 19mm deep socket on another breaker bar adn pull til it gives
i've heard of people actually turning the key to the car with the pulley tool on the ground and spinning it to break it free.
it can be a bitch, really though do searches check PO dot com website for how-to's if you don't find one here.
you're going to want to put a piece of wood under the oil pan and jack the engine up and down with the tranny mount bolt removed so you can get access to the bolts on the side covers. it's a bitch but worth it when it's done and you'll feel great at having saved a few hundred on labor. takes me only couple hours now to do it.
