rebuilt cylinder head questions
I,m building an F22a and I ordered a rebuilt head from ebay.
1. I,m wondering in general how smooth the gasket surface should be. I can feel grooves with my fingernail. Which seems way to rough.
2. Also how and where can I measure how much has been milled off.
My chilton manual is MIA right now.

1. Without seeing the texture or depth of the grooves I can't say for sure. However there should be some roughness to it. It shouldn't be a mirror finish.
2. Measure from gasket surface to gasket surface... Accord shop manual says the F22A cylinder head height should measure between 99.95mm - 100.05mm (3.935" - 3.938") when new.

Yeah that doesn't look bad at all..... I'd be looking more into the reason for all the pits and scratches in it. Not that any of them look like they would cause any issues. It just looks like that head has been through hell and back before it was machined! I would take a close look at it and the condition of all the moving parts. I don't mean to worry you or anything, just check it over good before you run it is all I'm saying.
Do you know how much has already been taken off the head?
