Default My clutch dilemma

I am running a fully built B18C1 with stock ITR transmission. My power goal is 500-600 WHP with GT3076R and Water/Methanol injection.

As I started calculating the increase of torque my engine will be making I realized my current clutch is going fall short. I have a competition stage four 6-puck clutch. According to competition it will hold a 250% increase in torque. Wouldn't that be around 450 ft lbs? I'm not that good at math.

Either way I don't want my clutch maxed out, id rather have some extra potential for power, or "wiggle room" if you will. So would a stage five 4-puck do it?

Also I currently have a steel flywheel, I think it is a 10 lbs. Should I stick with that or go with a heavier stock one?

Any suggestions for a clutch ? I don't want spend more than $400 if possible. Thank you!

250% increase in torque will be 560 ft-lb +/- 20 ft-lb. And that's flywheel torque. Closer to 475 wtq. Of course it can hold that. It's all a matter of HOW LONG it will hold it.

Above 600 whp / 400 wtq, none of the single disc clutches really last for too long. So I think you're going to want to budget down the road to be replacing that $400 clutch more than normal (i.e. less than 10,000 miles if you're really stressing it). Personally, I never cared much for the 4-pucks. It was either 6-puck (the CC that you have now is what I loved) or a twin-disc, IMO. Good luck!

What did you not like about the 4-puck?

I'm not using the super single. Leaning towards the Stage 5 with 550 Torque capacity..

I thought a twin disc setup was the most difficult to drive and you should install a clutch stop? I can't really afford to go twin disc yet but I want to upgrade to one in the future when I upgrade my diff and axles.

You don't need a pedal stop with the exedy twin. I DD'd it perfectly fine for 2 years. Best clutch I have owned.

I think that's what I'll save up for. I need my car running by summer so not this year but hopefully in the near future. Exedy seems to be th cream of the crop!
