New to Hondas, Looking to transfer tires
Evening! I just purchased my first Honda. I have been into cars for a couple years now, and have successfully restored a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. (i know, another one of those DSM junkies
) This honda is a 1994 accord and im using it as my winter beater. I got a good deal on it, and was looking to switch my almost brand new tires from my Ford Escort to the Accord. The tire size for the Accord is 195/60-15, and the Escort is 205/55-15. Can anyone explain how to comprehend this callout? and also if it would be possible to switch these without a significant issue occuring. Thanks!
Austin

195/205 is the width of the tire, sometimes measured at tread or sidewall bulge.
60/55 is the aspect ratio or sidewall height, it can be thought of as a percentage of the tread width measurement. This is what determines the sidewall height, and along with rim diameter, total tire height.
The tire sizes are fairly close in size the 195 tires are a tad shorter than the 205 tires.
Tirerack has most tire sizes/brands and the specs on them, if you want to look up the exact brand and dimensions.
