could use some help fixing my integra
m getting impatient with the guy who did the work on my car to help fix it, so im gonna see if i cant actually figure out whats wrong with it and fix it myself.
The car is a 1992 integra gsr. Just got a used b17 swapped into it by a local shop, only 60,000 on the engine. Car was working good for quite awhile, except the speedometer didn't work. Well the guys replaced the speedo cable so it worked again, but then i started getting a check engine light. They took a look at it tried fixing a few things, and the guy who runs the shop drove it back and forth from home to work for a few days without problems.
I get the car back, and i notice when i open it up the rpm's started jumping kinda wierd, like it was hesitating or misfiring or something. While waiting for the shop to take a look at it, someone suggested it may be bad gas, so i filled up a new tank along with a bottle of the gas cleaner stuff. It seemed like it might have been doing a bit better, so i was gonna drive it around and let that tank work though. Not long after i started this tactic, the car died in the middle of a busy street and i couldn't get it started again.
So now it sits, not starting. It tries to turn over but can't, so the starter isn't bad or anything. What do you guys think it is?

hrm... its possible, i havn'et checked the insides, but the distributor itself is only a few months old from the factory, so i don't think its gonna be the problem....
definetly sound like the coil is gone in the distributor, crank the engine and seeif the plugs have fuel on them, if theyre dry its the coil (as the injectors take their signal from the coil) if theyre wet then it could be the ignitor
im not incredibly experienced working on engines. When you say to crank it, so you mean get a socket wrench and turn the crankshaft manually to pump the pistons? What exactly will that do? (and btw, what preparation do i need to do before turning the crank like that, do i need to unbolt, unplug, or drain anything before that?? And then by check the plugs, i just unscrew the sparkplugs and check the tips for fuel?
Lastly, what is the difference between the coil and the ignitor? Aren't they both part of the distributor, so won't i have to replace the distributor either way?
Thanks a ton for the help bro, it is much much appreciated :D

I think by "cranking it over" that they mean to try to start the car. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Oh, LP, you know a lot more than you are giving yourself credit for
