Default 97 Accord, CI light codes p0171 and p1491,

I went to get the car inspected and my check engine light is on. So off to O'Reilly to get the codes pulled. The codes above give as rather large list of possible fixes, way to many to just start changing things at random. Any ideas as to which one of the items would be a good place to start?
Reported fixes for p0171:
HO2S, B1S2, Fuel filter, Fuel pressure reg. MAP sensor, PCM.
Reported fixes for p1491:
EGR valve, CVC, ECM or numerous hoses and vacuum lines. >.<

Default Re: 97 Accord, CI light codes p0171 and p1491,

Actual description of the codes are;
P0171 45 System Too Lean
P1491 12 EGR Valve Lift Insufficient Detected

P1491 may cause a lean running issue if the EGR valve is not fully opening. Blocked EGR passages or faulty valve will cause a lean misfire during cruise/part throttle operation, which may trigger P0171 to also occur.

Start with the EGR valve first.

Verify that the vacuum hose to the EGR valve is correctly attached and not damaged. With the engine fully warmed up, slowly open the throttle while watching the valve, it should begin to open. Attach a source of vacuum(preferably hand pump with gauge) to the valve while the engine is idling, when the valve opens the engine should stumble or stall. If not there may be blockage preventing the valve from opening, blocking flow, or the diaphragm may be ruptured.
When the engine is cold, use your fingers to pull up on the diaphragm of the valve to open. It should open smoothly. If it feels rough or sticks, this may be the cause of the problem. Exercise the valve to see if it frees up/smooths out. If not, remove the EGR valve and clean the underside of it, spray some throttle body cleaner inside of the valve and again exercise the valve. There just may be a build up of carbon/soot on the shaft preventing full actuation of the valve. Use a new gasket and reinstall.
Now would also be a good time to clean the EGR ports, look up the how-to in the Accord FAQ at the top of the page.

For P0171 check that the fuel pressure is correct. 38-46PSI
If it is low verify that the fuel pressure regulator is working. Disconnecting the vacuum hose at the FPR should increase pressure at idle, if it does then the FPR is working.
You can also artificially increase fuel pressure by pinching off the return fuel line. If pressure increases then the pump is working fine.
If pressure remains low, the Fuel filter may be clogged, or the fuel pump may be failing.

A hand held vacuum pump would really help you diagnose the two above problems. Mighty Vac hand pump for ~$40. It is also handy in bleeding brakes with one person.
