Default 1992 Prelude S - Possible Purchase

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on whether or not to purchase a 1992 Prelude S - 5 speed with 316,000 miles. It's currently for sale from an online police auction and the current bid is 1,025, but i was not gonna pay more than 1,200 for it. It starts and runs, but it needs at least a new battery, a paint job, and probably to have its fluids drained and replenished. It you guys can respond as soon as possible it'd be great, the auction closes in four days.

Thanks

Under 1200 for a running 4gen that's not completely beat to **** is a good deal. I paid the following for my 4 4gens
93 110k vtec. In great shape $4500
92 si 170k with no interior, no engine, nice paint. $1200
92 si 175k drove home, had a handful of issues but nothing expensive. Nice paint $1200
94 s 135k h22a swap with a destroyed block, but it ran, towed home. $500

Happy with all purchases.

lol none of those cars have close to 316k on the odometer, but I get your point, it just depends if he's willing to put in some work depending on the history of the car.

I would judge it solely on the body condition of the car. if it has rust or damage, nope. If it is clean, including rear wheel arches and sunroof, yes.

Honestly, I was thinking about this last night, I would sort of like to find a super clean base model 92-93, instead of pulling all the ABS crap from my car which has had accidents and is getting a little rusty. Engine swaps are easier than body work haha.

i bought my 93 Prelude S for about $800 and it had a connecting rod broke in half. have only put in another $800 in it to get it running. only fault with it is that the fuel gauge doesnt work but other than that. i found it to be a good investment. if you live in northern cali and it has an F22A1 in there, you can get another motor for $300 easily.
