H22A1 Shuts off while driving, will not start and turns over slowly
Hey guys
I recently purchased a 93 Honda Prelude. Ran great, had no problems with it other than it burning oil. But that was to be expected. While driving to work a couple weeks back, the motor suddenly turned off. I was going about 25 MPH in second gear. Towed it back home, as it wouldn't start back up.
I haven't had the time to work on it much, I don't rely on it for daily transportation. Now, the motor is turning over, but very slowly. I'd appreciate any help in diagnosing the problem.
No loud or unexpected noises were made when the motor cut out, just slowed and stopped, similar to as when you purposefully turn it off. Timing belt is fine, I checked that. Put new spark plugs in. Previous owner says the starter was replaced a few hundred miles ago. fd

I agree, check the battery and alternator, and all of the ground wires.
I'm guessing the alternator died, which allowed the battery to drain, which is why it died. and it'd turning over slow because the battery is weak and drained. try jumping it, if it cranks at normal speed and starts up fine, then remove the jumper cables and let it run a minute and then check battery voltage with it running. if it's less than 12.5 volts, then the alternator is shot. replace the alternator, then go to any parts store and have them test the battery for you, which they can do with it still in the car.

you have atleast two issues considering the battery being bad won't cause the car to turn off so something is causing the car to die and either the alternator is not charging the battery or the battery is not able to hold a charge.
first have the battery tested...then after putting either that battery back in or a new one(more likely) you need to monitor the voltage when you start the car to determine is the alt is bad....then you need to find out what is causing the car to randomly die...fuel or spark

if battery light wasn't lit prior to car stalling, or if battery and alternator check out good, replace your main relay under the driver side dash above your fuse panel. turn key on and listen for fuel pump to cycle, if its not kicking on its the relay, replace it.
