Distributor DisGusting
June 2007: Grinding noise from engine. Took it to local shop specializing in Honda and the owner recommended replacing the distributor with a new OEM one.
Today - Car stalled and can't start. There's no spark so after removing the cap, to my surprise, the cap seal, leak cover and one of the screws holding the coil are missing. I'm thinking, the 'new' OEM radiator installed in June 2007 was not new. I am not done with my testing but it looks like a bad coil.
Original Dizzy lasted 16 years with 160,482 miles.
The 'new' OEM replacement from 2007 is no where near in miles or years.
After looking at all the repairs over the years, I was hosed in almost all of them, even though there were only a few.

About $500. What makes me mad is the owner specifically recommended a new OEM distributor just for peace of mind. I have also used his shop for an AC retrofit to the new AC and that didn't last long but I didn't think much of it. Took it back to fix and he said about $800 to fix. Didn't do it. In 2012, he did a right front bearing for $411 but now when I hit the brakes, car shakes just like it did before. Anyway, I am so glad I found this forum and be informed on everything Civic. Thanks

I had my distributor give out on me on the freeway a little while ago. I had to get my Civic towed to my house and then did research. Thought it could be the distributor, so I went to O'Reilly's, purchased a new one ($300), then installed it. Car fired up right away. Took my old distributor out and noticed that the rotor was melted. I then took the new distributor out, returned it, and got a new one online, same as the Ridgeporter from O'Reilly's, from an online store with a lifetime warranty for $105.
Looks like you are from Elk Grove. I have heard that Rick's Auto in Sacramento, bu the UCD Med Center is a good place to go. I have heard the owner is very fair from a bunch of co-workers.

I'm still using the same distributor i bought new from my local Knecht's auto parts store on my mini me, works great and paid under 200. 500 for a distributor is a scam. they take no more than 30 minutes to install and time
