Hi,all
I had my harmonic balancer fall off the other day,the bolt broke in half and it looks as if the whole thing sheared right off. Do I need a new engine,rebuild? what option do I have. Any advice is appreciated.

 

Damn man that sucks... I can not tell by the looks of it but if the bolt is sheared like u said and stuck into the crank shaft you would need to some how get it out of there and get a new one if can. Otherwise you need a new crank/motor. There is probably a EZ out tool you can use.

 

That's...different. The only way I can see that happening is if you had too much tension on your accessory belts.

Remove the timing belt cover and see what kind of condition that thing is in. Ideally, you should drop the pan and inspect the crank for any warpage. You'll need a machine shop to do the work for you, unless you have a few extremely expensive precision measurement tools.

 

Thanks for the info. I asked few friend of a friend's mechanics and they all suggested that I just swap out the motor.
Most likely I am just gonna sell it and get a newer model.
