Default B18C1 rebuild, need links and info

Hello everyone, I got myself a 01 GSR hatch for my daily driver to and from work. I got it with 189,000 miles and the original owner told me he replaced all the outer seals and valve seals. He also told me that this motor likes to use oil..hmm(I've gone through 2 quarts in a week). It started to spit out what looks like black soot out the exhaust. So i figured why not rebuild the motor.
Any info would be great as to where I can start to get parts for an engine rebuild.
I want to make this my daily driver BUT as any car owner, since im going to rebuild the motor I want a little more power. So here are my questions:

1) do i need any machine work once the engine is apart? Ive read conflicting answers to this question and want to get a better answer.
2) Dreaded Ebay rebuilt kits, are they worth it? If not where can I get a good compete rebuild kit?
3) Head parts valves, cams, springs etc...are good and worth buying? also I am in california.

I'm not new to engine rebuilds but I am new to the B-family motor. thanks again

1:if you plan to over bore for a bit more displacement yes same as if you hone it.

2:Don't waste money on crap!.... OEM Honda/quality aftermarket is the way to go or find a new hobby.

3:depends on your power goals

imo a compression of 11:5:1 is fun for a dd.... 12:1+ and you're starting to get iffy depending on how good your fuel is.

Ok sounds good, I didn't think that ebay stuff was good. I'm mainly looking for a little more snap when I press on the throttle. Not really aiming for any specific HP. Just want the power there when I want it.
You say OEM honda parts. Do I get those from a dealer website or are there reputable internet shops for these parts?

11:5:1 pistons in a gsr with ITR/Tuner 2 cams will net you a happy 190-200whp which is really fun, I had that set up till I switch to 12:1/85x89mm. I always just go to the dealership it's self but a reputable seller works too. which ever is closer/faster in my case the dealer gets them for me the next day 99% of the time.
