Default 2000 honda civic dx 3 door coup owners!or equalivent.

Hi everyone. My name is Patrick. I am new to the forum and to tuning. I picked up a 2000 civic from a granny in ft lauderdale florida with 40k miles. Condo car is what we call it down here.....Oh yeah paid 3500.

I have had a quite a few civics and accords. This one is my favorite. So I did the newbie thing order ebay headers and test pipe. Oops Yah trick yah. I am searching the forum and have message a rep for a highly recomended rep for a board recomended supplier of the the best racing header and asked for his insight.

I would like to ask all of you her are willing to respond to newb. My primary directive is best bang for the buck. Headers exhaust system intake and a quallity bang for the buck turbo. After that I want to focus on making the car as light as possible.

I will appreciate all insight given and accept all flames.

thx

you're all over the place...and I will flame you if this is for a d-series engine putting money into that is the exact opposite of bang for buck. a little info on the car helps too what's your budget ?

If it's a y7 turbo it... Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but people tell me the the gearing in the y7 trans is better suited for a turbo being the gears are longer and that the compression the motor makes is safer.

eeesh. y7 is dog crap, plain and simple. has cat on manifold as well, so a header is out of the question for you unless you plan to have a cat welded under car. don't waste your money on bolt ons. z6/y8 trans will make the car much more fun to drive than any bolt on.

On a turbo it is, kiddo. Otherwise you jam up against the limiter too soon because you ran out of RPM.

OP I would say don't cheap out on the header, but don't bother wasting big stacks on it either. I'd say a DC Sports or Skunk2 header would suffice. As for an intake, Spectre would be alright, but a no-name intake on ebay with a wet/dry filter will be exactly the same performance wise. Just buy one of those and put a AEM decal on it (like i did)

Wrong.

Jamming it up against the limiter is a traction issue.

The "best race header" will cost $1k or more and takes a few months to build. By itself, it will make maybe 5hp. You will then not be able to use it if you go turbo.

Bang for your buck mod on a Y7 would be a trans from a Y8 or Z6. HUGE improvement for like $250.

Turboing this motor without a good amount of knowledge will require you to blow it up 5-6 times, get annoyed, and end up buying a subaru or something. In that order. Every single time.

Research a lot first. Buy good quality parts. It'll run for a long time with minimal downtime.

on a stock engine, you can actually lose hp adding a header. don't forget, your cat is on your oe manifold.
