Flashing oil light
I recently changed my oil sending unit and did a regular tune up on my 90 honda accord ex. I also changed my cam and crankshaft seals too. For some reason my oil light on my dash starts flashing occasionally. I check my oil and it is fine. What could be causing this?
Did it do it before you changed out your sending unit? If not, you may want to check the installation of the unit, more specifically, make sure the sensor has good contact with the block(Not too much sealant)
If it did do it, then you may want to consider installing a fitting, i think it is either 1/2" or 3/8" pipe fitting, with a piece of flexible tubing(Make sure it is rated for over 200F) going up through the back of the hood and attached to a pressure gauge(0-100, or 0-60), zip tie it to your wiper blade so you can see it. Then start engine, make sure theres no leaks. Finally take it for a drive, get the car nice and warm. And pay close attention to the gauge, especially when you are idling. Shouldnt go under 5psi.
If it does, then your engine is starving for oil, and you may have a clogged oil pick up, or your oil pump may be weak, or you could have some damage to your engine bearings.
