Icon6 94 Civic is being a jerk

So I had to park my car up in Nov because the transmission is going, well now that I actually can begin to fix it, I went out and jumped it and let it run, well as its running the idle began to sputter then the car just completely shut off. I attempted to start the car again but it wont turn over and I heard a popping noise when I would turn the key. Any idea as to wth is going on? The car had been running for a good half an hour before it decided it was going to shut down on me. Now I had previously had idling issues that are caused by a bad IAC I just haven't replaced it yet but other then that there are no other real issues besides the IAC and trans. The head gasket, timing belt, tensioner and water pump were all done in May of last year. Car ran fine and the IAC is a pre existing issue. Now I live in NJ and we did just have a lot of snow and Im wondering if because I have some hood issues if the snow may have cause some water issues somewhere inside. Help!

Not to be stupid but do you have gas left in the car? You were idling a half hour.

You know someone else said that lol, it has a little less than 1/4 a tank but Ive driven it to E before. And I would think even if there wasn't enough gas, it would of still at least started and then died but its making no efforts to fully crank over.

What is the popping noise? Where's it coming from?

Will the starter crank the engine?

When you turn the key to ON(II), do the cluster warning lights turn on and and does the fuel pump prime?

1/4 tank is more than enough. If you had run it dry it wouldn't start no matter what.

RonJ has some really good pertinent questions that may help shed some light.

I almost think the popping may be a misfire, not sure though. It was starting to storm so I figured I would save it for another day. Im not sure exactly where its coming from I was in the drivers seat and it sounded like it was under the car. The starter tries to crank but I think from sitting and not running for so long the alternator may have some issues, when I last checked, all warning lights came on and the fuel pump primes.

When you turn the key to the ON(II) position, watch for the Check Engine Light (CEL) to light up and turn off about 2 seconds later. During this time you should hear a little whirring sound behind you in the rear seat. That would be the fuel pump priming. You don't have to try and start it to verify this. Just put the key to the on position, make sure the stereo is off so you can listen clearly. Also there should be a click under that dash board in the vicinity of your right knee which is the main relay doing it's job.

If the CEL never turns off, that means there is a code that can be pulled.

You can always save it for tomorrow or another day and report back once you know for sure.

Sorry for the delay in answering Ive been busy the last few days. The check engine light comes off and then immediately goes off, but Im guessing because the battery is so dead its faint and I didn't hear the fuel injectors but again I don't know if that is a battery death issue lol

Charge or replace the battery, and then go from there.

Its a new battery, I think next time the weather breaks I need to let it fully charge as opposed to starting it as soon it will turn over.

OP YOU NEED TO GO TO AUTOZONE OR MENARDS AND PICK UP A 6V/12V 2 AMP TRICKLE CHARGER. PLUG THAT SUCKA UP AND LET IT SIT ALL NIGHT. BY SUNRISE YOUR STARTER WILL BE SPINNING CIRCLES AROUND THE MOON.

LOL I don't know what kind of charger we have around the house. Honestly, the car not starting is the least of this cars issues. I need a transmission for it and side lights cause apparently its a sitting target. Everytime its been hit, its been parked or Ive been at a light stopped.

I don't know, the weather isn't giving up enough here for me to even try to tear anything apart. On the days its relatively warm, it rains and if its not somewhat warm and raining, its bitterly cold or bitterly cold and snow/rain lol. My friend who got me into Hondas and tearing them apart originally had moved but is coming up for a visit next month so Im hoping we can get somewhere when hes here. I thought about checking and changing the trans fluid just to see if that would change anything. Im kinda stuck at the moment.
