Gen 5 V6 Bodywork
I know that the Gen 5 V6 has bigger bodywork from the firewall forward, and it looks like all of it is beyond the center line of the front wheels. From what I can gather the fenders and hood are about 3" longer than the 4 cyl. So I am thinking, what if you could put the V6 fenders, hood, bumper, etc. on a 4 cyl., you could gain some extra room for a turbo and the plumbing that goes with it. I suspect this is not an easy conversion, and I was wondering if anyone had tried it. Or at least thought about it?
Nooooooope.
The front aprons, rad support, and related structure is longer to allow room for the larger C2.7 V6. There is plenty of room for a turbo already with a F22, I would not bother trying to modfiy the car in this aspect. It would just add more weight, make the car longer, and affect handling negatively. Not to mention you will now have to deal with locating V6 sheetmetal/bumper if anything happens to the car.
