99 accord ex sudden trans issues
Posting this for a good fiend of mine
his wife driving when suddeny the tranny start whining and grinding
its an automatic
I got there to see what I could discern
1. no CEL (bulb works I checked)
it had cooled off and i started it up and began going for 5 seconds until it seemed to
pop out of gear and whine and grind
shut the car off and put it in park and it would still roll
its almost as if a solenoid or something isnt working
IM not really sure anyone able to chime in?
CV axles are good
again it worked for a second after it cooled off and then POPPED out of gear then whines and grinds even if still at idle

Does the D4 light, light up?
How many miles on the transmission?
What color is the fluid? If it is brown/black, drain the trans. Look at the drain plug, if it is coated in ferrous material, like a marshmellow wad of it, most likely what happened is the junk in the sump is now blocking flow of the pickup. The whining/whirring sound is the trans pump cavitating as it is no longer pumping fluid. Common enough death if the fluid was never changed and there is ~200K miles on the clock.
