Default Tachometer Gauge Wire Confusion

Alright So a few days ago I found an old tachometer, and decided to install it(don't want a cluster). Got all the other wiring correct until I got to the gauge wire. After doing some research online I figure the wire is supposed to be spliced with this blue wire? But before I did anything stupid, I have to make sure.

You can use the blue wire from the test tachometer connector in your picture, though the blue wire in the cluster connector may be more convenient.

Test tachometer connector? What is that used for?

And yes OP, that is the one you splice it into.

I've re-read your sentence 6 times now, and I'm having trouble putting the words together. No trolling, 100 percent serious. What did you mean? Is there a missing comma? I'm confused.

The test tachometer connector is used by mechanics to hook up an external tachometer for diagnostic purposes.

Thanks for replies, one more question though, everything I've seen about splicing is for a single wire, but these are two different wires. Would I use this guide? http://www.instructables.com/id/Mast...ice-everytime/ Never spliced before.
