Can i stop this rust?
Hey guys I have a 01 ITR. Found some rust near the rear passenger quarter panel. It was underneath those rubber strips.
Also have some underneath the rear bumper, i think i should get it all fixed before it gets worse!

My question is, is there any way i can stop it? or should i get it fixed? Planning on keeping the car for a while its a ITR!
Thanks~

Honestly best way would be to hit it with a wire wheel on a drill or die grinder, just clean the surface than just prime it and throw some paint on it. or some sort of thicker paint like a undercoat so rocks don't chip it again
Wire wheel on an angle grinder will give you a better idea of what is under that bubbling paint. If there are holes on the seam its worth replacing or repairing. A heat gun,air chisel, and a spot weld drill bit will get the panel off if need be.
If the rust goes through I would be weary of the whole car and other spots coming up. Por 15 works sometimes but not always. There are some expoxy sealers out there that might do the trick too. The best option is fresh steel, because you will always have to wonder if and when the rust might come back.

whatever is rotten (aka: you can poke a screwdriver through it) it needs to be cut out and a new piece of fresh steel welded and blended in. if it is solid, get rid of as much of the rust on the surface as possible, using a wire wheel, flap disc, whatever you need, then use a rust encapsilator, such as por-15, let dry, sand, fill, prime, paint...you have to make sure that you encapsilate it before fill prime and paint, otherwise if will come right back
