After backing out of my driveway, I shifted to 1st gear to go, car stalled so I thought, it's just your everyday stall from the clutch. But when I tried to start it up again, no go at all. Battery is good. This is my daily driver to work about 27 miles away. Car was working fine, no problem at all, in fact, the only time it died on me was about 5 years ago when it ran out of gas near my home and I've had it since I bought it brand new in November 1991. Changed distributor about 3 years ago, changed fuel filter about a year ago and like I said, no problems at all. The only other thing I noticed lately is the RPM needle moving suddenly up and down a tad - not too much up or down. With that, any ideas? Thanks for your help.

also supply us with some sort of info, have you tested for spark? fuel? anything? when you turn the key does anything happen? no power? does it click? youve literally told us nothing.

 

When I turn the key, it's trying to start but just does not start as if it's out of fuel. Everything else is normal, no CEL. Engine is stock. I guess the next thing to do is check for spark and fuel and see. Thanks for your feedback.

 

Probably your main relay. Left side of the car, behind the coin tray.

It's where you see the red circle, except in this pic, I already removed it. My dash is broken, so your dashboard will actually be in the way right there.

 

does your fuel pump prime?

do your hear the main relay click?

 

check if your ignition rotor backed out. common problem with these cars.
