92 civic hatch d15b/z6 - 15A ECU fuse keeps blowing!! pics in thread!!!!
OK so i was driving my car and it turned off on me,ended up being a blown fuse 15A ecu fuse under hood. replaced it and was on my way. later that day it blew again and i was like 2 blocks from my house i swapped the fuse out again and it blew as sson as i switched over the ign. after blowing 2 more i put in a 30 to get me home. i cranked the car but now it wouldnt start. towed it home with the ign on and when i got to the car it was smokey inside. checked the next day it was the YEL/BLK wire in pin 6 of the main relay power output. i plan to overlay a wire but wanted to know if anybody had any diagrams as to where it goes next from the relay or if anybody has ever seen this before and knows why it happens any help is appreciated no bashing
yea i wish....i overlayed the wire from pin 6 on main relay to the back of the grey connector right on the inside of the firewall the car now starts and runs but once you go to drive it i get out of the driveway and in the street....aand it blows. HELP PLEASE
Need main relay diagrams wires burnt!!!
Aaand what kind of Ford is this?
okay guys i have a 92 honda civic hatch d15b/z6 all out of no where as im driving it dies on me and fuse 44 is blown. i replace it and get about down the street blows again. put a bigger size (30A) and melts wire from main relay pin 6 to connector on inside of firewall. overlayed wire and got the car to start but would yet again blow before i could get out the driveway and now it blows it while cranking. ive decided to trace from the fuse down

the wiring diagram says fuse 44 is wht/blk this is the only one under the box about 10/12 gauge from under the box the wire goes into the firewall and behind the whole ac heater assy

my question is should i remove the dash (again) and attempt to chase the wire? has anyone seen this PLEASE HELP

Fuse 44 is not used. Are you sure it's not Fuse 39? Because that goes to a WHT/BLK.
PS; You probably figured this out by now, but DO NOT REPLACE FUSES WITH A DIFFERENT AMPERAGE RATING. You'll only make things worse, and can even set your car on fire. STOP DOING THIS.

Uh, that's for a 96-00, and you said you have a 92. No wonder a bunch of this thread didn't make sense to me. PGM-FI Main Relay is a YEL/BLK at Fuse 31 (15A). See how Fuse 44 is not used in this diagram?
dude i cannot believe i didnt catch that....it was labeled like that in a google image i searched. thank you for your help it is super appreciated i will keep thread updated tomorrow i will trace wire
so i looked up in the manual and your diagram is correct but it is a YEL/WHT wire. i did not find any open insulation throughout the whole harness...could it be an internal short in my main relay?? someone please advise..
tried a main relay out of my coupe started up but within 10 sec blew the fuse again i cant help to think where my short is
I understand this is quite annoying for you. Can you perform the Main Relay diagnostics on pg 11-116 of the service manual?
yeah ive downloaded the whole manual ill go to it and perform the test. if it makes any difference i attempted unplugging the relay and turning the ign to run. fuse did not blow and i left on for about a min. i turned ign off plugged relay in turned ign to run and instantly blew again....
i looked over the test but all those tests the failure leads to replace main relay and that would be eliminated after i tried the one off my coupe but the same symtom occurs...but like i said main relay unplugged no fuse pop. plugged in pop
As mentioned, NEVER install a higher than 15A rated fuse into the fuse 31 slot.
Fuse 31 supplies voltage via the Yel/Wht wire to the main relay, which in turn supplies voltage via a Yel/Blk wire to the ECU, the 4 fuel injectors, the O2 sensor heater element, and the EVAP purge valve.
My wild guess would be that the O2 sensor or its Yel/Blk wire has a short that is causing fuse 31 to blow.
However, unplug ALL bolded components I listed above (not the ECU or main relay). Does fuse 31 still blow when the key is turned to ON(II)?
