fuel pump takes forever to prime!!! help
Ok I've seen this thread a few times already but it seems the problem was never resolved. I'm having this problem now. My 91 civic takes a few min before the fuel pump will prime then I can start the car. I have 4 main relays which I switch back and forth to see if that's the cause but they all do the same thing. I got them from the junkyard by the way. Also the car will die randomly while I'm driving it but then I can start it right up. Sometimes even when it primes it won't start after that and i have to wait 25 min before i can drive it again. Fuel pump is new. Any ideas. It's not running any codes too. It did this once before but worked itself out.
have you checked that its getting power? did you replace the strainer?
if youhve power on key turn at the pump would seem the pump is the issue.. being new doesnt really mean much.

Well is there an easier way to test if it's getting power other than dropping my gas tank again?

It's a p28 ECU. I don't know anyone with a manual p28. So the fuel pump taking a long time to prime is a common sign of the ecu going out? Also the car when warmed up idles crazy now. Up and down
What engine?
Any 92-95 Civic OBD1 ECU, either auto or manual, would be fine for testing purposes. You just need to verify that the fuel pump primes immediately and every time you turn the key to ON(II).
Yes, the symptoms are a perfect fit with a bad ECU.
Could be a related or separate issue.

1. You cannot open the ECU under any circumstances.
2. You cannot steal the ECU.
3. You cannot damage the ECU.
4. In the event of a damaged ECU, you will replace it at your expense.
5. Payments will be issued via paypal or cashier's check.
Let me know OP if you need my ECU.
I can ship you my p28 ECU at a cost of 100 dollars a day not in my possession to make up my losses at work. For testing purposes you can use the ECU for 24 hours, then ship it back in a postage paid box (included in original shipment). There are a few guidelines:
1. You cannot open the ECU under any circumstances.
2. You cannot steal the ECU.
3. You cannot damage the ECU.
4. In the event of a damaged ECU, you will replace it at your expense.
5. Payments will be issued via paypal or cashier's check.
