Exhaust Question
Hey guys, I had a question about my exhaust system.
I've got a 96 Honda Accord LX 2.2L AT, 4DR.
After going to a less that reputable mechanic I walked out with a 140 dollars out of pocket and a 6" piece of steel pipe welded on about 4 inches behind the muffler. My whole exhaust has rust covering it, especially the catalytic converter. I was wondering if I would just run a straight pipe to the resonator and then have another pipe to the muffler.
I live in SE Michigan and as of now we don't have any emissions test, so i figure I would be okay to run it w/o one.
Oh and if you could point me in the right direction of a decent, reasonable priced, exhaust system. I would appreciate it.

From '94-'97 the exhaust systems on the 2.2 are mostly the same except for the catylst on 96/97 cars has an extra port for the secondary O2, and the wagon has a different tail pipe.
With a 96/97 with the catalyst removed the CEL will come on as it will detect a non functional catalyst.
If you have a 'Special Edition' model the exhaust is unique to these cars. The center resonator pipe is shorter, and it uses a different type of catalyst. IIRC these cars are considered 'low emission vehicles'.
At rockauto you can purchase a new muffler assembly and resonator assembly ~120+ shipping. But you will also need to purchase the appropriate gaskets and hardware if your old hardware is rotten.
