Default Front lower ball joint boot circlip part? Diagram included

Looking to buy the front lower ball joint boot and circlip for my 93 civic HB cx. I am not sure the difference between the two ref#20 and ref#10? My front lower ball joint boot ripped yesterday while trying to separate the lower control arm from the knuckle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Part Number: 90653-SB0-000
Standard Qty.: 002
Mfg. Origin: 'CAN'

Ref #: 010 Honda Part: circlip, control arm
Part Number: 52338-SL0-003
Standard Qty.: 004
Mfg. Origin: 'CAN'

I could be wrong here, but I believe 10 holds the boot, while 20 holds the balljoint into the upper A arm.

Why not just buy a new ball joint? Worth replacing if you haven't done so already.

Having said that, here's the "secret" method for freeing ball joints/tie rod ends/etc: Take your BFH and wack on whatever it mounts to a good 5 or 6 times. Really wail on it. You won't hurt anything as long as you're striking where you're supposed to. Eventually, tap on the bolt from the bottom side and if it's free it will come up. If not, keep smacking the side. This will free it and it will prevent you from ******* the threads all to hell and having to use a ball joint separator which almost always destroys the boot.

There is another trick to pop the lower ball joints, we did this when doing my tranny swap. No beating necessary. Just a floor jack and a solid extension. Maybey a slight tap on the extension once pinched. No Damage to anything.

Easier fix to just replace the boot. The ball joint requires some tools I don't have and the ball joint seems fine. Anyone have input on the circlip?

I always just carefully removed the old clip and reused it, looking at the diagram though it should be reference 20.

Btw you don't need any special tools to replace the ball joint if you remove the knuckle from the car. A hammer and a large drift punch is all you need. But if it's a good OEM Honda ball joint there's nothing wrong with replacing just the boot, I've certainly done it before as well, for the same reason you are.

#10 is the metal ring clip that holds the boot to the ball joint.

#10 is for the UPPER ball joint. #20 is for the LOWER ball joint

well if you look at the posted diagram, number 10 is on both the upper and the lower.

I think I was wrong in my previous post, go with 10, both call for 10, but only the lower calls for 20.
