When it rains and I turn on the wipers, it makes this loud screeching noise while it wipes. I thought maybe some sticky substance got on and tried washing the windshield with dish detergent soap but nothing has worked. Could it be defective wipers?

I also noticed that there are 2 "1-inch" hairline cracks on the windshield. No impact stars and one is on the inside. It was freezing recently and the windshield was iced over. I used the wipers to try and get the ice off then the car heater to heat it up.... could this have caused the cracks?

Will Honda replace the windshield for free since they were not made by flying rocks? What about the wipers?

 

The wiper blades are replaceable, but not covered under warranty as they are a wear item. The glass will be covered under your insurance.
