How to understand 8th gen civic si had turbo?
hi guys,
I need a help. my friend is going to buy a 2009 or 2008 civic si from auction. Is it possible to understand, is the car run on turbo before. we dont want to buy a car that had turbo before, because it is hard to know the installation was professional or not. If you can help me I will be appreciate.

how are we suppose to know what was done to the car before?
question is a little impossible to answer unless he left the turbo on!

How is that going to tell you if it was turbo-charged? If the motor was still healthy when it was uninstalled you'd never know. Probably the easiest way would be to look for things like cut up fender linings or something to that effect for the intercooler plumbing.
Beyond that potentially screw holes in the dash or pillar from gauges, etc.

ya compression won't say anything to you really if it's still healthy..
only thing i could think of is if they changed the piston and rod to lower the compression ratio but that would mean they would have to take the head off and such... and from the sounds of it they aren't really mechanically inclined!
