Default D16Y8 head with supertech or stock valves?

Hey guys, looking for some help. Bought a d16y8 head on here in the marketplace, seller told me it had supertech valves, springs and retainers. It arrived, and the valves had a stamp on the bottom of them ("12" on the intakes, "B2" on the exhaust). Supertech said their valves have no stamps. Are these just another brand aftermarket, or did the guy really screw me over? The valvetrain was preinstalled on the head.

Also, any other way of knowinv if the springs and retainers are real too? Thanks for reading

Did they say they were Ti retainers? Those do look like aftermarket VS and retainers however.
Those are not ST valves, at least I have never seen a set of aftermarket valves w/ stamps like that.

They didnt specify if they were titanium, just said supertech retainers. If they are aftermarket, I guess ill keep them just to not make a fuzz. I think I read somewhere that stock valves had an F stamp on them or somrthing. Is there any way of knowing if by any chance these are just another brand of aftermarket valves?

It's hard to say. There are so many companies and so many valves out there it's impossible to know what one company does vs. another. They look nice and fresh so I'd just run them and be done w/ it.

I hear you, I figured it would be impossible. Just taking a shot in the dark lol. My main concern was dropping in some no-name valves who might fail on me. But they do look pretty good so I think I might just take the gamble.

Damn, so theyre stock valves after all just gets me angry how some people could lie like that. I was pretty excited about a full st valvetrain, but im not spending another 250 on just valves...

He said supposively he bought it off of someone else on the marketplace that told him they were supertech. Im gonna give him until the end of today to reply to me to give him the benefit of the doubt. I want him to get me any info on the "other guy from hondatech", so no one else gets any surprises, as well as proof that at least the springs really are supertech. If I get no reply, ill put him on blast

His username is "Wakes4Fun" from NC I believe. Hasn't responded to my texts in days, and I've given him plenty of chances. I didn't even want to return the head and still got nothing. Buyer beware!!

There's a "scammers" list in the marketplace. You would probably be better served putting his name and an explanation there.

upgraded retainers and springs but stock valves which is not a bad thing. stock valves are perfectly fine if ur not using over size valves. stock valves are stainless and no different then aftermarket ones.. some aftermarket valves shave alil around the neck for alil more airflow and volume ... if u paid for valves that would be a different issue

Nah I didn't necessarily pay for them, to be honest it was more of the surprise of buying something and it's not exactly what you wanted. like I said, I would've been happy with some good communication from him, maybe an apology. but ignoring me after him being wrong is kind of adding insult to injury to me. I wouldn't do that to someone

Him not answering to me makes me think he purposely lied to me. not to mention, knowing this ahead of time definitely could've saved me money when we were agreeing on a price. but I am just going to run the head and see how it goes. hopefully I don't get any more susprises...
