A buddy saw a flask one one of the fb pages and asked me to make a few for gifts. Here is my first go. Not used to working flat surfaces.

How do you like the plate marker? Thing is far too loud and expensive for my taste. I rather get the overpriced AVHC.

Hahaha yeah that is about the same as i feel. I fill my water table up till it is touching the metal and that helps A LOT. It has lots of uses and i do like being able to engrave with it. Next up is the extremely overpriced avhc. Im going to take a stab at making a tube cutter. Ill post pic as i go along. Thinking i can pull it off for around a few hundred bucks which is a couple grand cheaper than tm quoted me.

What settings do you use to cut stainless? I tried and all the cuts had a lot of dross. Do you cut at the same speed as mild steel?
I did 1/8" mild steel at 35amps and 85ipm with virtually no dross. .100 aluminum at 35amps and 72 IPM with the same results.

stainless sucks period. I have the AVHC now but I have not had time to install it. I hope it helps but I doubt it. my experiences are the same as yours. I have a hypertherm PM45 (love this) so I just cut at the recommended speed per the manual. That usually turns out the best results, I slow small curves down about 60% of the normal speed. You can always float questions to pirate4x4, they have a specific board for the torchmate and is where I always go when I’m lost.

To answer your question, the stainless always cuts for **** and I spend a huge amount of time (that is never understood or appreciated lol) at the grinder or disc sander to make each part clean and weld ready. I’ve heard that you could run argon but ain’t nobody got time fo dat

Bro, there is nothing "fun" about listening to the plate marker all weekend long. i was to do that to the MFers at Gitmo i would be charged for crimes against humanity =P but if no one will pay me to weld i'll take what i can; it's honest work and i do the best i can to make everyone happy.

Those brackets were for me and that was just a quick mock up picture. Rearend was majorly warped from the previous owner welding brackets on it so it has now been straightened. I have the jig to hold it straight while welding and redoing the housing ends. I just need to get back to finishing it up.

MFG does GREAT work and is AWESOME to deal with!!!
