OT: 3000gt sl
yeah. its slow, and most are automatic. that thing ways wayyyyy over 3000lbs, more like 3300-3500 and has about 220hp i think. regardless, as i said, they are dogs.
The 3000GT SL 5-speeds have plenty of bang for the buck. I believe the only Honda that can beat them stock-for-stock is the NSX and the Integra GSR.
The automatics could be faster (I drive my mom's from time to time) but I've never lost to a 4 cylinder.
by the way, all 3000GT's and Stealth's are 6 cylinders..there are no 4 cylinder engines in these cars.
The SOHC models are 161HP
The DOHC models are 222HP
The DOHC TT models are 300HP ('91-'93) and 320HP ('94-'99).
3000GT:
Base ('91-'96) DOHC 222HP
SL ('91-'99) DOHC 222HP
Base ('97-'99) SOHC 161HP
all with available 5-speed manuals or 4-speed automatics.
VR-4 ('91'93) 300HP only 5-speed manual (no automatics)
VR-4 ('94-'99) 320HP only 6-speed manual (no automatics)
Stealth:
Base ('91-'96) SOHC 161 HP 5-speed manual/4auto
ES('91-'93?) DOHC 222HP 5manual/4auto
R/T ('91-'96) DOHC 222HP 5manual/4auto
the basic differences between the ES and R/T was styling and available creature-comforts.
R/T TT ('91-'93) 300HP 5manual only
R/T TT ('94-'96) 320HP 6manual only.
Hope this clears some things up, I'm just passing on information, not trying to start anything.

vr4's are the only iteration of the 3000gt that anyone cares about as they have twin turbo's and 4wd.
And don't tell me that the auto tranny "might" be faster cause you've driven your moms from time to time, or because you've never lost to a 4 cyl...cause it just aint true.

haha all of you once had one post..so at that time..you were ALL just as STUPID as him HAHAHAHA you guys are ******* hilarious!..
Well anyhoo
SOHC - 16's
DOHC Auto - Mid 15's
DOHC Manual - Low 15's
DOHC TT - High 13's/Low 13's..
All pending on driver and then what year VR4 too.
That basically the jist of it...So if you think Mid/Low 15's is slow..well then...that's slow..if not..well then it's not....you decide.
Whoops...I only got ONE yep laugh it up and count again ONE (haha i can barely contain myself it is so funny) post..so what i all said doesn't mean ****..i forgot.. silly me.

I may come off as a troll, but all I ask is that you get concrete facts about cars before bashing them. Also, please don't judge the cars based on 1 or 2 encounters with them. there are a lot of idots with 3000GT's. the facts are though, the are not all THAT slow. I have a base 225 hp roughly, and 218 lbs of torque. quarter time is around 15.9, 0-60 in like 6.9 I think. in a 3200 car. mine maxes out at 145. I put a K&N conical filter on it, that's all. if you ever have been to 3si.org, you'll notice we rip on hondas and other such cars alot. most of us realize that there are very fast hondas out there. but probably 99% of us have encountered dumbasses with them. im sure many of you have too. the people with the 3 foot wings on the back, cut springs, poorly matched body kits, and those nice little 1.5 inch exhausts leading to fart cans. I see probably at least 5 every day. you can't deny it. and those are the people that give you a bad name. so please don't take it out on us (3/S Family)

I'm disapointed in some of you guys..I was just trying to pass along information about the cars...i said "I believe"..meaning "I'm not sure"..i've never heard of an ITR (whatever that is) and I forgot about the S2K. I never once said "Honda's are slow" or anything like that, I've run across some turbo'd honda's that beat the hell out of my TT. It's no wonder you guys have such a bad reputation among other car enthusiasts..you take any chance you can to put down anyone that doesn't drive a Honda.

plain and simple truth.
your 'cars' are ******* pathetic (stock anyways). With the auto's.. the only chance you have is racing from a dead stop. On the highway you can just forget about it. Unless you're packing a turbo or nitrous you're wasting your time.
Infact, i don't even believe **** i read on these boards anymore. "yeah, i fucked up a 3000gt by like 10 car lengths to 100 in my stock SI" BS. To this day i have never been beaten by a honda/acura. I'm sure theres tons out there who could hand me my ***.. but unless you have over $1500 in the car it's not going to happen (and especially when you spend that $1500 on stickers, lowering kits, rims, wings, etc..)
I can't talk too much **** though, i've read on 3si plenty of times of people in their n/a's getting beat by cars they should just run away from. Maybe my car was a factory freak? I just cant fathom the idea of getting beat by a near stock honda/acura (excluding the nsx ofcourse).
One of the closest races i ever had was with an SI (in my atx intake/exhaust 3000). The SI had headers, intake, exhaust, racing seats, 5-speed, etc.. - from 80-100 we were pretty much even (my car was running like **** due to spark plugs). From a 50 roll he didnt have a chance. Stock SI's arent even a race (to me anyway)
I guess it is all up to the driver. For me, honda's pose no threat. To others.. they fear them. (to the others - LEARN HOW TO ******* DRIVE!)
And for the "vr4's suck cause they weigh 2 tons" (we all know it's coming)... i dont suppose anyone wants to race my 96 stealth tt? If you're lucky i might just decide to launch at 3k rpms.
I don't mean to talk too much **** here. I know some of you have some fast cars. You all just need to get your facts straight before coming on here and posting. When you call our cars slow as *** you're insulting yourself just as much as you are us.
A stock DOHC (5speed) is totally capable of low 15's high 14's. Most drivers cant launch/shift if their lifes depended on it. They weigh in at around 3300lb's (5-speeds) Thats with a full 19gallon gas tank, spare, tools, jack, etc..
Once again, get your facts straight before posting.
