intake manifold making a pop sound inside

Just swapped a ls motor into a eg hatch, it just started making a popping sound inside the air intake or manifold, also my battery wont recharge, alternator is good, and checked fuses, and it still wont charge.

lean fuel mixture, valve timing, ignition timing, and valvetrain problems can all result in popping back thru the intake.

most common mistake: spark plugs are in the wrong order.
second most common: timing belt is off a tooth.
