Default Code 17 VSS woes

Installed a jdm SiR cluster and had to switch to an electronic VSS (piece installed on the tranny) VSS has 3 wires; lead, ground, switched power...ran 3 wires from VSS to cluster. Speedo works fine but how can I get the electronic signal to the ECU. Does anyone here have a breakdown on where each wire on a PR4 ecu goes? I ran a search but came out empty. I identified the old speedo wire from the dash spliced it to the lead wire from the VSS...no luck.

Pin B17 needs to receive the VSS signal.

I thought the the only thing that made the VSS "electronic" was that it sent an electrical signal to the cluster instead of the existing cable driven mechanism. Then the cluster sends the electrical signal to the ecu in both cases, USDM or JDM/SiR.

thats what I thought too...I wonder if I have to take the lead wire from the VSS and tap it on the ECU, then hook up the current wire from the dash marked for speedometer to the SiR cluster. Because on my current set up, the lead wire from the VSS goes directly to the cluster bypassing the ECU. Anybody else can throw an idea?
