Default o2 sensors...cheap vs expensive WWYP ?

So for about a year i've rolled with a cheap 30$ ebay sensor...yes i was dumb when i got my first car now i have an AEM UEGO wideband(o2 included in it). Just curious what has been every one elses choices when it came to o2's ? partsouce wanted 250$ ! and Acura wanted 480$ back when i needed mine so i was like fuq that. only con i can see to the ceap-o one is reduced MPG anyone confirm this ? never threw a cel or acted up the car has always had a slight "rich running" factor not sure if that will go away with the UEGO.

Also anyone have a suggestion as to where i can mount the wideband gauge ? i don't want any cluster bezel or pillar pods. i was thinking in the CC hole or cluster dimmer switch ?

NGK and Denso sensors have been available for around $50-80 for direct replacements for atleast the last 5-7+ years. I know this because I bought one about that long ago for my GSR and again for my EM1. So...you looked in the wrong places, unfortunately. Sparkplugs.com is where I got my direct replacement sensors from.

Years later, I found out that you could use 98 Civic EX sensors....which were even cheaper. It was the exact same sensor part number, but the wire was 2-3" longer. Which, ironically, was exactly what I needed for my PLM RMF narrow header on my ITR.

I always used denso or NGK direct replacement plug and play.

I used Bosch twice. One time because I needed it THAT day for my Civic EX. It worked out just fine. No issues.

The second time was more eventful. A BRAND NEW sensor threw a CEL. It had me searching for a bad wire for days. I kept thinking "brand new sensor. Same CEL??!". Non OE sensors are hit and miss for everyone. I solved my issue with a used Denso sensor.

Lots of people have CELs right off the bat with non OE sensors. Lots of times, the sensors read too high or too low of a voltage. So yes, bad MPG, but also CELs for either a sensor element, high/low voltage, and even heater element CELs.

Sometimes you get lucky. It's the same story as non-OE thermostats.
