So I'm in the middle of this swap just took out the d15z1 and I have a d15b. So I swap all the parts from the z1 over? Like intake manifold, ect. And what about the oil pump? Please respond asap!.thanks

 

Which D15B did you get? There are about 8 different ones.

i'm confused, why would you swap those parts onto the wrong motor again?

 

I got an obd1 single stage vtec d15b. And the the z1 took a **** on me . I just need to know what I do and don't need and what I should look out for ect a second opinion is always nice

 

With today's rising fuel costs, it would almost be worth rebuilding the Z1. That motor rivals current day hybrids with 55 mpg. And it's 20 years old. That's just my opinion though.

 

In regards to the intake and exhaust manifolds, the short answer is yes they will swap over to d15b. With that being said the intake manifold from your z1 has much smaller runners than the stock d15b setup. On an old setup, I had a jdm d15b and for emissions purposes I had to run the z1 intake manifold, the car ran poorly and would not rev past 4500 rpm but it did pass. I think it may have been a result of the smaller manifold or throttle body.

I would recommend finding an intake manifold that was designed for your engine. If it is the d15b vtec then find a manifold from a d16z6. As far as the oil pump goes, I am not sure. I would be inclined to say that it would work but research it.

A p28 ecu which is found on the d16z6 and would work great with your d15b.

Finally, TomCat39 may be right. The d15z1 is an amazing engine, I regret getting rid of mine, the mileage was phenomenal. If you have the means to rebuild it, it may be worth it, if not sell it to me

 

If it's the power implementation of the D15B Vtec don't swap anything over. Used the manifolds it came with. There's no reason to swap the oil pump. Run a P28 ECU. Convert to 4 wire O2 sensor. If it's the vtec-e version of the D15B vtec (VX engine) just drop it in, use whatever manifolds are in better shape.

 

Thanks guys the z1 is amazing on gas and I am to Na rebuild it then build the d15b for a turbo set up. I'm using the z1 Intake for now and it runs fine but I'm defiently gonna upgrade and I am running a p28 right now and all is good but I'm throwing a code cause I dont know how to convert from a 5 to 4 wire o2. Any suggestions? Wanna start cracking that vtec!!!

 

I have also have A y8 manifold will that work okay?
