Can we replace the original seats of 1996-2000 civic by 1997-1999 CRV seats ? Are they interchangeable ?

Are you trying to drive with your head out the sunroof?

1G/2G CRV seats are the same as EJ6/8 seats, they just have REALLY TALL brackets. You should be able to swap your original brackets onto the CRV seat and make it work without any problems.

 

Like he said, it's just the brackets, swap them.
Good thing about getting an automatic CRV seat is that it has a drivers side armrest


I have CRV seats in my Civic and Civic seats in my CRV. took me about 2-3 hours to properly and safely swap and steam/clean everything.

All the EX CR-Vs have the driver's side armrest, automatic or manual, LXs didn't get any and the SE has an armrest on both the driver's and passenger's side.

 

I own a 5 speed ex CRV and it does not have an armrest, wish it did!

 

You sure you're talking about 97-01s? I own an Auto LX AWD, hell the CRV trimming is really confusing to begin with because they underwent a lot of changes between 97-98 and then 99-01, we need a well written FAQ on it. I've read over on CRVOwnersClub and HondaSUV, iirc the manuals never came with armrests, while only some auto's did, but the mounts for the armrests are in the chair under the fabric, i'm likely wrong though.

 

Well ****, turns out the manuals don't have armrests, just checked on majestic Honda. Not all the automatics do either though.
