I just got this used car(also a new driver), Accord V6 EX. Today something else happened, I went and got new tires and went to wash the car at a self-wash place. After washing, I tried to turn on the car, but the engine would turn on for a second and immediately die. I got it to go enough to pull up to a sidewalk and let it sit for awhile, had it start up and drove and then got gas. Again, after putting in gas I got the same problem.

I pulled up and parked somewhere else again to let it sit, then it again wouldn't start up and when I did get it to start you could notice the engine knocking and see the RPM dial going up and down trying to keep the engine alive. This is also around when the check engine light came on.

I'll be sending it off to a mechanic either today or tomorrow to get it looked at and I wanted to hear some other opinions here too.

 

In all cases, your car was warm/hot. This is a common issue amongst 2000 V6 Accord owners. It's called 'heat soak' 'hot soak' 'vapor lock' etc. and has a few remedies/fixes available.
