Default thieves jacked my ride...

Hey honda tech whats up...

long time lurker, first time poster...

so I awoke the other day to find my 91 crx stolen...it was a horrible
day and long story short, police found it, its all in one piece...

apparently the thieves just wanted was a little joy ride and dumped it in a residential...thank god...

so anyway the damage is a broken ignition cylinder and a broken steering column...so I think its part number la2631 from autozone, pretty pricey so im thinking of pulling a ignition housingfrom another ef...

my question honda tech is what all ignition housings will fit on my ride?

Crxs are scarce and im pretty sure the ef civic igniton will work but I donno...

any help would be much appreciated. Oh and **** thieves.

pretty much any civic from the year. you can always wire a different one w/out using the clips as long as the wires match up to their trigger points

You know, I swapped my fixed steering column (1989 civic std) for lowering one from an Si model. When I swapped the columns I also swapped the ignition so my ignition key matches my door locks...
Since I should not be trading on tech forum PM me if you are interested. It sure as hell will be cheaper than what autozone asks for it. Here is what I have left (matching key included):

The arrow indicates temper-proof screws I cut slots in to swap ignition, and now are just basic screws.

Also when the theives stole my car they somehow manipulated the clutch safety switch...

Before, my car wouldnt start if it was in gear...

Now it does...

I guess thats some theive knowledge that I don't know about...
Any ideas on why/how the theives managed to disable/override my safety switch?

Maybe with the new ignition it will work?

Clutch kill switch is what they may have thought it is. There is a 2 pin plug atop your clutch pedal. They probably just spliced the wires together.

That's better. Say for some reason you run out of gas at a stop light in a busy intersection or trying to merge onto a highway. You can put the car in first, release the clutch, and use the starter to pull you to safety. Plus, you don't wear out the throwout bearing by clutching in at every startup.

Just remember to keep that bitch in neutral if you start. It's unnerving at first because you triple check if its in gear, but in time it becomes natural to wiggle the shifter before startup
