91 civic dx h22 swapped wheel hop issue
Well here I am again. fjnally got the ol civic swaped and running. tires on the frnt are old and balled but didnt figure this would cause my peticular issue.
91 hatch dx
h22a
esp engine mount kit
esp traction bar
stock frnt springs till I can afford a good susp setup
I expected this swap to kill the ave tires. but was not expecting wheel hop since from what ive read wheel hop comes from radius rods haveing bad bushings and old engine mounts.
could a par of good springs shocks with new tires keep the frnt end from bouncing?
my issue is not with launches. from a roll if u try to accelerate hard in 2cnd gear both wheels spin and frnt end chatters with the ground.

Since your issue isn't with off-the-line launches, then the wheel hop you are experiencing is from loss of traction.
It's not surprising since you have put a higher horsepower engine in a lighter weight chassis.
I have a friend that did a mild build euro H22 in a stock EG chassis and could get the wheels to spin in 4th gear.
I would suggest you start with replacing your old and "balled" tires with some new ones that aren't bald.
Maybe even get some larger wheels that are a bigger diameter and wider if you can.
The spring and shock combo is a concern because there is a bit of a weight difference with the H22 compared to the stock motor for your chassis.
Setting up suspension correctly (front and rear) for the type of driving you will be using the car for is always a good idea.
It helps with getting the traction you want when you want it and handling gains a noticeable improvement.
However there are many components to suspension and all of them need to be considered.

Replace all ball joints and bushings... prothane
Sounds like some key ones may be on there way out also make sure all bolts torqued to spec.

Haha. I was on the ******* power typing. Things happen :p Sorry the typo caused one so much grief.
I am no english majior.
Thanks to everyone elses input. devils in the details but im on my way. Getting the engine in and running was the easy part. Fine tunning the car is a mo..
The tires are next on the list. Followed by upper/lower ball joints and suspension.
Thanks again guy. Feels good to shift gears again.
