i wanted to paint my valve cover again, but wanted to paint it some kind of different color, just for a change of scenery, but when i search through the internet or browse auto parts stores, theres not many colors to choose from ???, i don't want a typical color like bright red, orange, light gray etc . . ., i want something like a dark bronze metallic, or a really dark teal green color, stuff like that,
i looked at VHT site, duplicolor, eastwood, and rustoleum, and none of them had a big enough color selection for what i was looking for,
does anyone know where i can find engine paints in more colors to choose from ?
i've seen a lot of engine bay pics with really unique cool colors on their valve covers, but not sure where they are buying those types of colors?, unless they got it custom done at some paint place where they mix up a color for them that they pick.
any tips on where to find more colors of engine paint would be cool

we have painted many engine with the base/clear that we painted the car with. the high temp paints are meant for headers. an engine doesn't get hot enough to bake off a normal paint. If you just want to paint a valve cover any brand paint from a spray can will work. but make sure you do proper prep such as degreasing, scuffing the paint even primer if need be

i had no idea you could use just regular spraypaint?, i just thought it had to be good for hi-heat, cause i've felt the engine valve cover after driving car hard and they can get pretty damn hot, so your saying it should be fine on a valve cover ?,
seems to me like it would'nt last long and start to flake off from the heat?
should i use like some type of hi-heat primer first, then put the regular paint, and afterwards put a hi-heat type of clearcoat ? or not necessary?
i guess if you were painting a header or exhaust pipes then you would need to use a hi-heat type paint,
thats good to know, cause now i will have a better chance of finding a cool color for me to use to paint the valve cover, cause i know you can find lots more types of colors in regular spray paints versus just trying to find a specific hi-temp engine paint.
