Hi all,

Need some help. Just took my 96 Ex in for inspection and I'm getting three Not Ready's on my emissions test results (Evap, Catalyst and O2 Sensor). I'm allowed two Not Ready's to pass.

Last year, I had two Not Ready's - Catalyst and O2 sensor (so I don't really need to bother with these again)

It's this new Evap in Not Ready that has me confused.

Now my battery had been jumped prior to taking it in for the inspection because the car has been sitting for a long time. I was told by the inspection station to drive it for awhile and then bring it back to re-test. I have put about 75 miles or so (highway and street) and I rechecked with my OBDII reader and it is STILL showing three Not Ready's.

Can anyone suggest how I can get my Evap (whatever that is) back to Ready status?

I believe if you didn't reset the ECU the codes would still be stored.

You need to reset the ECU, drive a bit then check with your scanner.

You can either use the scanner to reset your ECU or you can turn the ignition to the off position (unhook the service connector if you had it shorted) then pull the back up fuse (7.5A fuse) in the under the hood fuse box for a minimum of 10 seconds. I believe it's the only 7.5 amp fuse in that box. Then put the fuse back in. This method resets the clock and any radio presets if you are still all stock.
