carbon fiber seat (Stohr Composites)
Here is something we built a couple months ago. The most comfortable thing I have sat in. It replaced my Kirkey drag seat. Actually conforms to our backs, beings its rounded. The headrest piece is adjustable and you can place a structure of padding on it if wanted/needed.
Thought I'd share in the fab section.
Kirkey drag seat = 12-13 lbs
Stohr Composites seat = 6-7 lbs

Thanks guys. Obviously this one is a bit over the top for a simple drag racing seat. This particular style is in a fee of our road race and sprint car race car customers. The drag race ones don't have quite the restraints on the sides of the head.
Wow, that looks extremely comfy. Really nice work. What's the price tag on one of those? Pm me if you can; on the off chance a mod sees the thread I wouldn't want it to get locked.
Thank you for the comments. If the market picks up, we may consider getting it SFI approved, but for now most of the sanctioning bodies do not require that in a seat.
