Hey guys, Just curious here on how to go about geting this bolt out.

Last summer when running my wires for my subs I took out my back seat and saw a broken bolt in the hole that suppose to be the hold down for the bench of my back seat.

I've tried to drill it out,slot it with a chisel and wedge it out to no avail.. I'm a bit worried to used my dremel to cut a slot since my fuel tank/pump is close by.

I'm broke & can't afford an extraction kit atm.. So I'm asking if it's safe enough to try the cut off wheel and make a split then unscrew it.

 

What type of drill bits did you use? Left-handed cobalt bits are designed
to bite into even hardened steel and they operate in the direction
(counter-clockwise) in which the bolt would otherwise be removed.
Treat the bolt w/ PBBlaster.

Use a centerpunch to dimple the bolt so that the bit does not
walk. Then use bits of progressively larger size as you drill deeper.
Use cutting oil.

At some point, you can sacrifice an Allen wrench by hammering
it into the now somewhat drilled bolt. Then remove the bolt.

 

Ok... This is not really bolt related.. But when I jack up the rear wheels and the ebrake is all the way up. One of my wheels still spins freely. Is my cable broken?

 

^ Yes.

I'd say you can use a drill in that area just fine. I just had some welding done in the same area and it was fine. You can also just leave it alone - I dislike that bolt anyway and don't really use it.

 

if it's the 10mm one don't worry the persons weight along with the top portion of the seat will keep it down/secure. and yah that or horribly loose
