Default Need some input on my Setup

Hi guys, It would be really helpfull for me to get your opinions and toughts on my intended mods. I will be performing these changes during winter since the car will be in the garage anyway...I am presently at stage 1 of the project, witch is buying the parts...But I want to do this the good way, not the fast/cheap way.

Parts I already have:

AEM CAI
Toda Spec B's
Toda Cam gears
Toda Valve Springs
Portflow Ti. retainers
Toda Header

Parts I will be getting:

Hondata
Toda 81 mm pistons (raises CR to 12.3:1)
Toda 1.0 mm head gasket (lowers CR back to 11.9:1)
Toda Timing belt
Mugen Exhaust

here are my preoccupations:

CR will be too high for pump gas (we can get 94 up here)?
the Mugen exhaust will be really restrictive...but I really need a silent exhaust so I am willing to sacrifice
Will I need bigger injectors?
Will other parts be needed to keep the engine reliable?

So all opinions are welcomed

are you sure? here (not far away) petro canada's highest octane gas is 91 and sunoco's is their ultra 94.

Why would u want to get pistons to raise the CR, then get a thicker head gasket to lower it and basically cancel it out? If you wanna be around 11.9 to 1, couldnt you just get CTR pistons or other similar and then a thinner spoon or mugen head gasket to add just a bit more compression?

I would imagine you would need to get atleast prelude 290cc injectors, maybe RC 310s...im running 440s and im probably switch them out to something less.

mugen exhaust should be nice

you are definitely gonna need Hondata or some other ECU/programming tool, especially if you are going to run on pump gas. It would be very smart to ensure that fuel delivery and combustion were focused on as much as possible.

timing belt...you probably dont need it with spec B's...

these are just my opinions from what i *think* i know so far in this game...im sure others will have more detailed advice and reasons to do or not do something.

I know that putting JDM ITR or CTR with mugen Head gasket would get me to about 11.5:1...I'm still not sure on that point...Some will probably tell me to shave the head...but it doesen't seem really appealing to me since errors could be desastrous...

Yeah, Sunoco Ultra 94 and Petro Can 91 unless Montreal is really weird.

hmm... just out of curiosity how much is 94? o and why not wait and get some cams to really put that compression ratio into good use? if i had the chance.. id wait for all the parts.. then do it all at once.. saves money on tuning in the long run, no?

As far as exhaust you should get either hytech or smsp, also, look into Fujitsubo, i believe they are relatively queit and seem like a good design... for pistons, you should just get the Spoon JDM ITR pistons, the CR is slightly raised, and they are also balanced. You could throw a thinner HG in the mix for an even slightly higher CR. Hondata with the already mentioned prelude or RC's 310's should be good. Combine that with tuning for some good numbers. nice choice on the timing belt, i would spend $100 more for the safety factor, esp with toda b's history of snapping them

it might be a lil easier getting some wiseco pistons and eagle or probe rods (whatever u like) still good performance, just alot cheaper

i think its around 800 ish for rods and pistons

also look into
hondata intake manifold gasket
honda s200
port & polish head by alanzi (sp?)
or portflow
get the timing belt from toda
mugen or spoon baffled oil pan
rc310 maybe 370ish? not an expert but 310 should be fine for n/a

you will most likely need new injectors, austin on this board gained some more mid range and a lil topend when he added prelude injectors (there is adyno floating around he posted)
i have heard a couple times that the nozzle on prelude and other mfg. injectors flow better and have a better spray pattern, therefore giving you better fuel delivery

bring $$$ extra to the table, it takes alot for doing what you are going to get into
install headaches, tuning, more various honda parts needed, bearings, lots O stuff

Thanks for the Input guys...

In your opinion, what is the CR limit on pump gas (as I said we have 94 octane here) with tuning, evidently...

Get the CTR piston with either stock, mugen, or spoon gasket if you want to get around 12.0:1 CR. Then use the money you saved on the piston to get the Hytech or SMSP exhaust, they are just as quiet as the Mugen. If you have any extra money, may as well send the head to Portflow to get it P&P.

With Toda B and good tuning, I think 12.0:1 CR is OK with pump gas

As for the limit, it all depends on how its tuned, you could run 13:1 on 94 probably easily, with good tuning.
