Default 97+ side impact beam

Hey everyone, I have the option of removing my side impact beam (under the rear seat) since my carpet is out of the car at this time. So my question is would my car perform/handle any differently without it? I know the beam is a safety feature so it shouldn't affect performance. Its street friendly and not used on the track. Just trying to shave a little weight off the car. I do know the 94-96 tegs don't have the beam, so I'm assuming it shouldn't make a difference. Just want to make sure before I remove it. Any info will be appreciated. Its a 97 gs-r.

not enough difference to feel it take it out if you wish.
