F22b2 Parts Recomendations
Hello all! I have a 94 Accord LX I am currently overhauling the motor in. It had a blown head gasket, and at 310k on the clock, just couldn't see leaving the bottom end alone. I absolutely love the car and plan to keep it for quite some time, so I don't mind spending the money (I only gave $200 for the car, so we aren't into it too far). I am not looking for a race car, but don't mind a little extra oomph, so I figured on some bolt ons. The exhaust manifold is cracked, so I will snagging an eBay header, and the intake tube has several splits, so I figure on a CAI also. I am also considering the milder Delta cam grind, and a light weight flywheel. My main concern is the plethora of junky cheap parts available for these cars. I am on something of a budget, but not so tight I have to buy the cheapest re-ring kit out there. I would like some guidance from some people with experience using economically priced rings, bearings, etc with good luck. Or if you bought absolute junk and it canned on you, wouldn't mind that either, always like buyer bewares! As if looks, I don't think I will have to buy pistons, just a hone and ring should suffice, but I haven't pulled the crank yet, so it may be hiding a surprise. Oh, and some guidance on the oil pump as well. Does it need to be replaced, or can it be cleaned and resealed?
Thanks in advance!
