Default [HELP] D16A9 Rocker arm

Hello everyone,

I'm new posting here, just used to read posts, but now I need help and not sure where to post. Sorry if posting wrong forum.

I just bought a 91 CRX with D16A9 engine and I'm having problems with my rocker arm (too much clearence).

Does anyone know where can I buy a set? I am from Brazil, so maybe the only way is buying on Internet. If I find in US I could send to a friend to ship to Brazil.

Thank you.
Regards

Eduardo

D16A9 rocker arms are the same as the U.S. 86-89 D16A1 from the Integra (also same as D16A8, D16Z5 and JDM DOHC ZC) - what do you mean by "too much clearance"? - how are you checking the clearances? - on these engines, the clearance is checked by placing the feeler gauge between the top of the rocker arm and the underside of the camshaft lobe, not between the rocker and the top of the valve stem like a SOHC - the valve clearances are 0.13 - 0.17mm on the intake and 0.15 - 0.19 mm on the exhaust

The Mechanic told me it is pulling out when reving high and told me it would be necessary to replace the rocker arm.

if the valve clearance is properly adjusted, it is not likely that the rocker arm will come out - the end of the rocker that is on the valve stem as a kind of recessed area that fits down over the stem to hold it in place - the other end of the rocker is a ball and socket which also holds it in place - if you have weak valve springs and rev it really high, the valves may float a little which could let the rocker arm slide out - we have seen them come out on engines where the owner tried to adjust the valve clearance by checking it between the rocker arm and the top of the valve stem, like on a SOHC engine - not the proper way to do it as there is no way to check it due to the recess in the rocker arm - set the clearances like I described in the previous post

Jlicrx, it was very helpfull. Thank you very much. I talked with the mechanic and he told me he adjusted this way you told, but there is a weariness on that. I think it is probable the valvle floating problem you told.

thanks!
