Battery options other than optima/oddysey
I really need a new battery and Was originally going to buy an optima yellowtop, but read a lot of negative reviews, along with the Odyssey battery.
Does anyone know of a good battery in the 80-150$ range that won't die on me and can support my aftermarket speakers and sub

where did you read that odyssey is bad? i have had nothing but amazing from those batteries?
i cannot say that for optima, but odyseey is quite good.
if your looking for a battery to just run speakers anda sub, go to you local auto parts place and pick one up there. are you running a capacitor along with your amp?

When I was looking at the odysey PC680 http://www.ebay.com/itm/271372638248...84.m1423.l2649
and after reading a couple sites, a lot of users said they had issues with the battery draining, or not starting if not turned on in a couple days
well they obviously had no clue, my battery is a 680 and has sat for a week in - 25c weather and started right up just fine.
i would recommend a capacitor. it deff helps. nothing insane. maybe a half or full farad.
the pc680 will work fine. it is what i run in my car. more to the issue is f your alternator can handle what you are running.
my personal experiences with optima, stay away. odyssey works great. if you dont wanna dish that out, then a standard battery from a local auto shop will work fine.
personally though. i found the 680 bar none better then what i could find at my local shops.
and please dont cheap out on ebay, especially with a battery. buy it from a legit source

I was just using ebay as a bookmark for the names of certain items I was looking at.
Thanks for the input, I guess I'll stick with the 680 unless someone else here has a different opinion.

I had a 680 go bad on me, but Im not sure it was the batteries fault. It was swolen like an overheated cell phone battery. However, it may have been my own fault in some way, how, Im not sure. It just happened out of the blue, but I had been working on the car alot during that time.
My battery was shot, even after jumping and driving around. If you turned the car off it would just be completely dead. Had it tested and it was only reading 10v and only 100cca. Due to the wire tuck, etc, the battery is located under the dash, so I decided to get the same type of battery to make my life easier. 2-year warranty as well.
I think I paid $160 with tax for mine.
Old battery, swolen

New battery.

Capacitors are just a band aid. Adding a second battery is a much better option.

I am running about 1200 rms with a optima yellow battery and been having draining probles, but it is due to my alarm. A viper 5904. But it takes about 3 weeks for the battery to drain.
